In the city of Rosario de Lerma, Argentina, a 29-year-old man has been charged with stabbing his former partner with a knife after she refused to get back together during Christmas. According to the Argentine News Agency and based on information from the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused was identified as Daniel Escalante. He has provisionally been charged with 'aggravated assault due to the prior relationship and gender-based violence.' The 24-year-old woman filed a complaint, stating they had been in a relationship for two years and four months and had lived together for a short period. Following the report, the prosecutor's office took over the case. The woman also stated that they had separated a few days prior due to controlling behavior, isolation, and episodes of physical violence, but she agreed to reconcile at Escalante's request for Christmas. The man became violent on December 25th around noon, when they were at the victim's relative's house in the San Jorge neighborhood. At that moment, he grabbed her arm, immobilized her, squeezed her hand, and caused cuts on her fingers with a kitchen knife. The young woman was taken to a local hospital, received medical attention, and doctors confirmed she had three cuts on the fingertips of her fingers. Police officers seized a knife from the aggressor's home, which is believed to be the weapon used in the violent act. Consequently, the man was detained, and Prosecutor Escalante requested that the accused remain in custody while the investigation proceeds.
